CMA Hare Scrambles – Erie Ramblers were there in full force

pill1Race 1/ Port Colborne finally came and it was a great day for a race, the track   was really dry as they had not had rainpill23 in a couple weeks and this lead to allot of dust on the 1st lap, my 2009 KTM 250xc worked great and I was feeling confident the entire race as the bike handled great considering the dry conditions, the Rekluse Clutch truly helped with traction in these conditions.
The Eire Ramblers were there in full force we had a great turn out and I am hoping to see even more Rambles at some of the coming races, Barrie is in just 2 weeks June 7th and is always a great event, myself (Jeff Pillon) pro class #15, Macker pro class #64, Franck Cantin expert class #104, Yansee expert class #82, Bill Amlin ( working on becoming a Rambler ) Nov A #380, Blain Amlin ( also working on becoming a Rambler )  Nov A #418 were there and all had a great time at race #1.

I did not get off to the best start but after a couple corners I caught up to the front pack of riders and it was very dusty behind them you could not see anything I was just following the cloud of dust and ended up crashing once about ½ way into the 1st lap do to the dust, I was able to get going again and with everyone spacing g out a bit the dust was not as much of a factor, I felt good and managed to get up to about 5th place at 2 hours into the race but unfortunately do to a flat tire with only 25 mins left to go I was  out of the race so I will have to try to make up some points at the next race, even with having a flat I was happy with my ride as I felt I could ride with the guy’s in this class and I am looking forward to better results in the near future.

Macker also rode a great race finishing an impressive 7th place in the pro class he said he did not get off to the best start but came into his own as the race went on. Frank Cantin ( also on a 2009 KTM 250xc)was off to a great start but caught a branch in one of the corners and the force of this was enough to pull him off his bike and his bike ended up down in a ravine and it took him a good 15 mins to get the bike out of there he still managed to finish 7th in the expert class a good finish all things considered, Yansee also rode a good race he found the track to be tough as I believe all of us did do to the lack of moister and traction, Yansee had pulled in to the area we were pitting with about 20 mins left as he did not think he was doing as good as he was with some encouragement from Bill Amlin he went back out and finished and managed to get 6th place in the expert class. Blain Amlin rode and excellent race on his 2008 KTM250 sx in the Nov A class and was in a top position when he ran out of gas this was costly as he was not near his pit area at the time he ran out. Bill Amlin also had a bit of a rough race as he had a hard time getting his bike started on the line and also stalled a couple times while on the course this is Bill’s 1st season back on a bike in a # of years and I am confident things will get smoother for him as he has been practicing a lot and it will pay off.
There were also other local riders there including Dennis Imeson, Franck Imeson, Ron Golden a few others, these guys are have been guest at Eire Ramblers many times and look forward to the opportunity to come back again, check the cma web site in the near future for all the results http://www.canmocycle.ca/
These are fun races and make for a great way to get plenty of seat time I encourage anyone interested to come on out and give it a try we will help you pit and ensure you have a much fun as possible.

U.S. Youth Bike Ban Lifted

wont-eat-justThe CPSC voted a stay of enforcement into place that effectively lifts the ban of youth-model motorcycles and ATVs on Friday, May 1, with the document being made public on Monday, May 4. The stay extends through May 1, 2011, following a unanimous vote .While this provides relief to the industry, it’s not the permanent solution. Simply put, the fight isn’t over – it’s just a two-year timeout.
